Scientology: Less Funny, More Scary

Scientology has always been a favorite satirical target of mine, so when I heard of the group Anonymous hacking their site and keeping it down for two weeks I though it was an amusing prank at least, if not a bit immature. I never really looked into the group, mostly because I considered Scientology little more than a joke, a ‘religion’ for the easily fooled that would die out sooner or latter. Recently though I came across this YTMND page and began looking more into Scientology and Anonymous. I found the following videos, which I thought were post worthy.

The cult of Scientology is clearly more than a convenient and easy target for satire, it has, and continues to, destroy lives. I encourage anyone who reads this to join in the fight against this cult. You can google Anonymous and find more information about their upcoming events. Unfortunately the decentralized nature of the movement means they have no ‘official website’, but there are forums and other site where participants gather to plan protests, and they always welcome new people looking to help fight Scientology.

The New Dealers Strike Back

The New Dealers Strike Back

If there was any doubt that the Left has abandoned Liberalism for Progressivism than this series of articles celebrating 75 years of the New Deal in The Nation, the self described ‘Flagship of the Left’, should provide sufficient evidence.

Clinton’s a Porker

According to Taxpayers for Common Sense Hillary Clinton obtained $342 million in earmarks (read: pork barrel spending), nearly four times Obama’s earmark requests, according to a recent New York Times article. Clinton ranks tenth in earmark spending in the Senate. John McCain on the other hand earmarked a total of $0 in spending because he requested no earmarks. McCain has claimed several times that if elected he would veto any bill that came to him with earmarks on it; for our sake let’s hope that’s more than an empty campaign promise.

Bursting the Obama Bubble Pt. 1 – Health Care

Since my attacks on Obama seem to have generated quite a bit of anger I’ve decided to start going through his policies piece by piece and explain what it is that frightens me so much about the man. In this first installment I’ve gone through Obama’s health care plan and I must say, it’s frightening; here are a few of the changes Obama proposes:

  • Offer a National Health Plan that would be similar to the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP)
  •  Create a National Health Insurance Exchange which would have the power to heavily regulate the health insurance industry by forcing health insurance companies to provide premiums at least as cheap as the national plan, and would forbid insurers from charging those with pre-existing health issues more, while forcing insurers to “have the same standards for quality and efficiency,” whatever that means.
  • Hand out billions in subsidies to those who cannot afford health insurance.
  • Force employers who do not offer health insurance to contribute a percentage of payroll to the national plan.
  • Increase eligibility for Medicaid and SCHIP.
  • Increased ‘transparency’ that would force hospitals and other care givers to report, “measures of health care costs and quality, including data on preventable medical errors, nurse staffing ratios, hospital-acquired infections, and disparities in care.”
  • “Support disease management programs…Obama will require that providers that participate in the new public plan, Medicare or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) utilize proven disease management programs,” which is to say, the government will tell your doctor how to treat you.
  • “Obama will tackle the root causes of health disparities by…and promoting prevention and public health.” In other words look forward to more anti-smoking ads, smoking bans, etc.
  • Allow a greater number of generic ‘copy-cat’ drugs on the markets, thus eliminating much of the incentive for researching new drugs.

Creating a government run health insurance plan and then forcing private insurers to keep their prices at least as low as the national plan’s prices is an even worse system than that in Canada and European countries. Combine governmental control on pricing with regulations that require insurance companies to take on people with pre-existing conditions and then removes their ability to charge these people more and we have a disaster on our hands that will bankrupt private insurers.

Whereas in many of the countries liberals point to to prove that socialized medicine will work those who want to pay more for better private programs can (and in France, for example, nearly 85% of people do), in Obama’s plan government regulations will force private insurers to charge less, take on more risk and provide a ‘level of care’ equal to that of the national plan. Essentialy this will cut private insurers ability to provide any real alternative to the national health plan.

The biggest question is, of course, how exactly are we to pay for all this? Obama doesn’t answer that question in his plan. But clearly we cannot, in our current state, pay for all this. The plan calls not only for a national insurance plan that will base it’s pricing not on how much it costs to provide care, but on what is ‘affordable’, it also calls for an increase in eligibility for Medicaid and SCHIP, further burdening already failing programs. Obama’s plan goes on to call for subsidies for those who cannot afford health insurance. So we’re going to increase the size of already failing programs like Medicaid and SCHIP, create a national health insurance plan that will surely lose money rather than make it and offer billions in subsidies to those who cannot afford health insurance currently. If you think our economy is in trouble now, just wait to see what happens when our already debt laden government takes on the burden of trying to give it’s citizens ‘free’ health care.

And what would having this national plan mean for Americans? Well most worrisome is that the government would be able to require health care providers to, “utilize proven disease management programs,” meaning that the government would be making your health decisions instead of you. The plan goes on to advocate “promoting…public health.” I think this is really the most frightening part, essentially what Obama is saying is that because we’re all in this together, because no part of our private lives is considered outside the state, the state ought to “promot[e]…public health.” Of course he doesn’t explain how this would be done, but I’d guess that the anti-smoking ads and bans we’ve seen in recent years would pale in comparison to the kinds of programs that would become justifiable under state run health care.

You can read Obama’s plan in it’s entirety here, and I suggest you do. I think if more of Obama’s blind supporters (and I’m not implying they are all blind, just most of them) would stop projecting their ideals and hopes onto the man and research for themselves what Obama actually hopes for they might not be so rabid in their support for him.

White Sin, Black Sin

This song can now be heard playing around the nation to groups of drunk, over privileged white kids giggling while trying to learn the newest dance craze, the superman. And in case your curious, to ’superman that hoe’ (and I must warn that the following is graphic) involves ejaculating on a women’s back so that when she wakes in the morning the blankets are stuck her, like a superman cape. Cute right?

This kind of filth is the greatest harm white America has inflicted on the black community since slavery. The poisonous culture of drugs, promiscuity and crime glorified and encouraged by this filth has ravaged the black community for over a decade now; and in the meantime the American youth laugh and dance along, putting millions in the pockets of those who export this deadly carcinigen.

If it sounds like I am being alarmist it is because I have seen first hand the harm this kind of ‘entertainment’ does. I spent much of my youth in a church in Brookside Indianapolis, one of the most poverty stricken and dangerous areas of the city. My family worked with a retired principle who took kids in off the street after school to teach them and encourage them to rise above the kind of life encouraged in the rap that many of them were immersed in outside of his program. We saw many triumphs, and many failures. Several of the young girls in the program had been, at one time or another, brutally attacked and raped; one of the young men in the program, who we had worried about since he had begun hanging around a rough crowd, was taken out to one of the worse areas of Brookside one day and killed executioner style.

And yet, we continue to consume the products of an entertainment industry that fuels this culture of death. It is a great immorality. The only difference between the video above and the black face performances of the early 20th century is that Soulja Boy needs no paint.

Of course the white affluent youth of America are not the only ones to blame. Precious few intelligent prominent black men and women today are willing to stand up and condemn the black entertainment industry for what it is, a merciless killing machine. The likes of the recently infamous Reverend Wright continue to blame the white man for destroying black America, while the black community continues to form an ever insular community separate from that of the culture at large. It’s self destructiveness feeds on the poverty and hopelessness of the black community, creating a viscous cycle of crime and victimhood that constantly draws attention away from the real problem to focus blame on an ever elusive figure, ‘the man’, or more specifically, ‘the white man’.

We will never see race relations in this country improve until black and white stand together against an industry that makes a mockery of black men and women for the entertainment of over privileged white kids; an industry that glorifies a culture of death, drugs and crime; an industry that continues to refuse to take responsibility for the problems it creates, and continues to encourage the black community to refuse to take responsibility for it’s problems.  This unwillingness to oppose the black entertainment industry will continue to destroy the black community, and white complacency in it may go down as the greatest injustice done by white Americans to black Americans since slavery.

President for Sale!

I’d read several times before that many in the press consider Obama a master question dodger, but I had never really seen it for myself until last night.

While on Larry King Live Obama was asked by King if he would consider Clinton as a possible Vice President if he were to win the primaries. His answer was essentialy that it would be far to presumptive and arrogant for him assume that he’ll even win at this point. King went on to ask Obama about his feelings about McCain, Obama answered that he respected McCain and that he looked forward to facing him in the general election.

Huh? Obama says he can’t answer a question because it presumes that he’ll be the Democrat in the general election, and then moments later, after being asked a question totally unrelated to the general election, he makes an unqualified claim that he’ll be the one to face McCain in the general election. This is the man of honesty and integrity everybody loves?

Obama is a set of vague ideals and values meticulously packaged into one charismatic man being sold to the American people. Watching him is more like watching a television ad than it is like watching a Presidential candidate. This is why he dodges questions, because he has a specific image manufactured by his campaign that he cannot deviate from; because he isn’t campaigning on the issues, he’s campaigning on that image.

Obama Linked to Weathermen Underground

Sometime in 1995 then State Senator Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her hand picked successor to a group of prominent liberals at the home of William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers and Dohrn were both part of the radical anti-war group, the Weathermen Underground; the group was responsible for several bombings in the 70’s meant to protest the war. The couple remain unrepentant, as recently as 2001 Ayers told the New York Times, “I don’t regret setting bombs; I feel we didn’t do enough.”

Obama sat on at least two panels with Ayers, and from what little those involved are willing to tell the press they were at least on friendly terms with each other. This uniter’s radical left leanings are becoming more clear every day.

You Fail!

Orwellian Double Speak disguised as Political Correctness strikes again.

Next thing you know failing grades will be relabeled as ‘grades that represent your best! :D ‘ And we wonder why our nation’s youth continue to fall behind in education; we’ve failed our future.

Obama’s a Fascist

Oh shit! Did he really just say that?

Ya…I did. And here’s why:

“Fascism, above all, demands a leader sensitive to the feelings that course dimly through the crowd, someone who gives voice to its yearnings, however vague, who can magnify them, make them important, and focus them back onto himself so that he appears as their inevitable embodiment: ‘Obama ’08.’”

The above comes from this review of Jonah Goldberg’s new book, Liberal Fascism (which I look forward to reading soon) and it really strikes at what it is about Obama that truly terrifies me.

Now of course simply being charismatic doesn’t make one a fascist; as Goldberg argues in his book fascism is not simply a synonym for ‘evil’, it was a particular ideology that in it’s time was seriously considered by many, including many prominent American liberals of the time. So, what about Obama would drive me to call him a fascist? Just think of the bumper stickers one would expect to see sharing space with an “Obama ‘08!” sticker; again I quote from the review of Liberal Fascism,

“Fascism is inveterately hostile to religion: ‘Curb Your God.’ It thrives on action and grand designs: ‘Think Globally, Act Locally.’ It fetishizes youth: ‘Listen to the Wisdom of Children.’ It seeks to persecute an enemy it blames for all grievances, real or imagined: ‘Impeach Bush, Torture Cheney.’ It points the finger at international conspiracies: ‘War Is Shell & ExxonMobil & Halliburton & Conoco-Phillips & ChevronTexaco & BP . . . ’ It’s collectivist, expansionist, and nature loving: ‘One People, One Planet, One Future.’”

Yup, Obama sure seems like a fascist to me; and what a shock, he isn’t a scary evil Republican. I’m reminded of a comment George Carlin made on HBO’s ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’, “when fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jackboots. It will be Nike sneakers and smiley shirts. Smiley-smiley.”

The Transformation Is Complete!

I am officially a Reagan fan. While I may never be able to forgive President Reagan for ignoring the AIDS crisis as it slaughtered tens of thousands of men and women in the queer community, I can at least respect and admire his political vision, integrity and courage as on display in his first inaugural address. Though his religious speech in this address may send chills down the spines of those of us who have now seen the catastrophic results of the union of the Religious Right and Conservatism, I am convinced President Reagan would undo the damage caused by this union if given the chance.

As the 2008 Presidential candidates continue to campaign across the country we as a nation ought to look for the candidate who can deliver this kind of vision, honesty and pragmatism as they take the oath of office in 2009.
